Ágnes László’s book, Nimród Kovács: I was a good waiter was presented in the midst of tasting excellent wines, in the Kempinski Hotel Budapest. The presentation was just as funny and lively as the protagonist of the book.

PAR EXCELLENCE AWARD BY THE HUNGARIAN SOMMELIER ASSOCIATION

We got the best news yesterday, 5 of our wines – including our grand cru Nagy Eged wines – were awarded with gold medals at one of the most acknowledged American wine comeptition, at the Chicago Beverage Testing Institute. We are especially proud for getting 93 points for our 2011 vintage Syrah, not only beacuse it proves our earlier assumption that Eger can serve as a true home for this international varietal, but because no European Syrah has ever before scored so high.
“How does a country that up until 25 years ago did not even know what the global market was, make a hit internationally in the wine business?” the question bursts out of me the moment I meet Nimród Kovács, whose great mission is to put Hungarian wines on the world stage.
